PIM running season starts April 2

Some 9,500 runners are expected for the Hervis Half Marathon, which starts the PIM Running Circuit for 2011

Sporting goods company Hervis Sport a móda will be main title partner of the opening race of the Prague International Marathon’s 2011 season. The Hervis Prague Half Marathon takes place April 2nd, 2011, and is one of the most popular running events in the country. This year the organizers expect more than 9,500 runners to take part in the race, 12 percent more than last year.

“We are delighted that Hervis is continuing as the main title partner of the Hervis Prague Half Marathon as our aim is to encourage as many people as possible to take up running as a natural part of their day-to-day lifestyle.  Thanks to our two companies’ cooperation, we can spread the word even farther and wider,” Carlo Capalbo, president of the organizing committee of PIM, said in a press release.

Luděk Semrád, the executive manager of Hervis Sport, said that the partnership with PIM allows the firm to be involved in an event that has the perfect target audience for its brand.  “This is the 10th year of our involvement and we at Hervis have continued to build and improve our product in much the same way as the race has itself,” he said. Our aim is to encourage as many people as possible to take up running as a natural part of their day-to-day lifestyle.

Hervis Sport has been the main title partner of the Prague Half Marathon since 2001. In 2010 the race was awarded with the IAAF Road Race Gold Label, and it saw 8,400 runners taking part, including former football star Pavel Nedvěd. Hervis Sport a móda is a member of the Austrian group Hervis International GmbH and its Czech branch opened in 2002.

The firm Prague International Marathon was established by Capalbo, in 1995. This first marathon saw 958 runners taking part and, since then, PIM has developed its activities into a series of running events that, together, are known as the PIM Running Circuit. In 2010 the PIM Running Circuit attracted more than 50,000 runners from all over the world, from which 8,000 took part in the marathon, according to a PIM press release. Since 1995, the PIM race sponsors have included Volkswagen, Adidas, Hervis and Mattoni.
