Czech  national football team captain Tomáš Rosický has signed a new contract with his club, English Premier League outfit Arsenal.

“The Czech international has been in superb form over the past two months and signed a new contract with the club on Monday,” Arsenal’s official web site announced.

It added that manager Ars?ne Wenger was delighted the 31-year-old had committed to the club and believed that Rosický could play many more years at the top level.

Details of the extended contract were not revealed by the club, though Rosický had been expected to be offered at least a one-year extension on the deal that runs at out the end of this season.

Rosický — who for long did not live up to his initial billing after his transfer from Borussia Dortmund six years ago and was laid off for around a year-and-a-half by a muscle injury — has recently been enjoying a revival.

Instead of being brought on for fill-in roles from the bench, the Czech midfield player is now in the starting line-up and has his long goal drought appears to have ended with two goals in his last three appearances against Tottenham and AC Milan.

Ahead of that recent run of form and regular first team appearances there had been speculation that a reluctant Rosický might have had to seek a new club with rumored interest from as far away as Russia.
