Let's import some honest politicians from abroad
Clearly, the Czech Republic is sick. Its politicians are thieves. Its business leaders are thieves. Its government bureaucrats are thieves. Perhaps importing some honest politicians from abroad is what we need to do. That''s what you do when you can''t find something domestic. And obviously, there aren''t any honest native Czech politicians.

Here's another perspective
Bribery in public office is rampant around the world, except that elsewhere it''s called lobbying.  The crux of the problem is that in this country, if a high-level person is caught doing anything illegal you could be sure that nothing would happen to him/her. Of course a public slap on the wrist and a suspended sentence is par for the course.  The Vit Barta case comes to mind. In these cases, if you face no significant sanctions, then why would you stop playing the game? It''s clear that there has been a shake-up in the State Police that has given them the motivation to seek out high-level persons and punish them accordingly. If Rath is indeed found guilty AND suitably punished for his actions, it will send a clear signal to all the so called "godfathers" that they need to change their ways, if not ther tactics. This is a very interesting development and honestly, a quite surprising one.
